Since 2015, St+art India Foundation has been making Delhi pretty with all their public art projects. It’s a great concept because not only does it aid in beautifying Delhi but at the same time brings art to public spaces away from the restrictions of a gallery setting.
St+art, a non-profit organisation has taken up art projects in the capital city to make art accessible and truly democratic even in the cities of Bangalore, Mumbai and Hyderabad. The art district in Delhi is located at Lodhi with colourful murals painted by international artists creating artwork that decorates various buildings. Till now, twenty six quirky, creative colourful murals have transformed the locality turning the entire area into an open air gallery.
The recent additions include works by Bicicleta Sem Freio (Bicycle Without Brakes), a Brazilian design and illustration collective. A project in collaboration with the Brazilian Embassy and Asian paints explores motifs, ideas and colours that the duo saw in India.
